Ceiling Discoloration Avalanche 290RL

I have yellow spots on the ceiling that started showing up about two months ago. I contacting the dealership the unit was purchased from and they stated it is the puddy that was used to fill in the nail holes. On closer inspection I have determined that they are correct with their diagnosis which brings me to my questions.

1) The dealership said to use rubbing alcohol or mineral spirits to remove the puddy. I tried rubbing alcohol but feel their has to be a better way because it did not appear to be working. Have any of you experienced the discoloration and if so how did you remove it the puddy?

2) Why would keystone use puddy (dealership stated it is a white crayon used to fill in the holes) if they know there is a possibility of discoloration? I guess I am assuming they know based on the fact that the dealership knew exactly what was causing the discoloration.

The unit is a 2011 Avalanche 290RL purchased in 8/2011 although the unit was probably already about 4-6 months sitting on the dealer lot. I do not mind removing the marks if their is a good way to complete the task but I have to admit I would rather be camping than standing on a ladder scrubbing the ceiling.
