Good Sam extended warranty

Just bought a used (1 year old camper) a month ago. Felt like I needed some security of an extended warranty. Has anyone purchased the same and have you had to use it? What was your experience? Did you use it at Camping World?

Many people strongly advise against getting one of these service contracts. I never get them for autos, etc. However, after reading about all the problems Rvs have we decided to get the Good Sams ESP.

Since getting it, I have had 3 issues and they've covered them all. The biggest one was the a/c compressor on the chasis (E-450) blew and took most of the tubing with it. My ESP plan covered like 95% of the $2800 bill.

So, yes, they do work if you follow the service requirements, etc, that are laid out in the contract.

Are you saying the Good Sam contract covers the tow vehicle as well as the trailer?

NO, Good Sam does not cover a tow vehicle. Dmatt is referring to his Class C "front end" which is an E450 (van cutaway). As part of his motorhome, the drive train and accessories are covered. Not the same with separate tow vehicles. However, Good Sam does have a separate vehicle service warranty that they would be happy to sell to you for an additional fee....

I'm new to all this and was skeptical about the Good Sam deal but Camping World told us it covered the tow vehicle also. They said it was just like AAA but better. I hope that is the case because I am using an older vehicle to pull our travel trailer. I have had very good luck in the past with the extended warranties on vehicles and hope I don't have to use on this but we'll see.

A service contract for a towable does not cover the tow vehicle. You may have knowingly or unknowingly purchased two contracts, one for the tow vehicle and one for the trailer.

Or this could easily be a classic case of the salesman "SAYING" what the customer wants to hear, but not "putting it in writing." I'd strongly urge you to read your contract with GS (or anybody else) and see if it specifically says that the tow vehicle is included in your extended service contract...

Good Sam Warranty covers your covered RV only........

If you have a trailer and need towing for the tow vehicle, then get the Good Sam Emergency Road Service for the tow vehicle & the RV.

Warranty is warranty
&
Towing is Towing

Two separate things.

Jo

And, yes, I have used the Good Sam ERS for both my TV and my fiver &
have used it for my home vehicle 2 times this year already!

Sounds like there is confusion. Are we talking Extended Coverage Warranty, or are we talking Good Sam Emergency Road Service which does include the TV.

Hopefully the original poster was talking ' warranty ' as that was what I was responding too.

The ERS coverage is just emergency road service coverage.....nothing to do with your warranty.

I never buy a warranty on an RV, but I do on a car IF I can afford it at the time.......

I, personally, have found it has paid for itself in all the cars I bought!

Small world, I completed an online ESC quote request with Good Sam (their brokerage, Affinity) over the weekend, they responded today with a phone call and email (...of course!). Their quote for my 2012 3750FL Big Sky, is $992/3 years with guaranteed price lock and renewal for up to 16 years, $200 deductible, adding tires is $143.00 for the 3 years. I have a copy of their coverage document, it's too large to post here, 232k, .pdf. I'll email it to anyone who's interested.

I haven't decided if an ESC is for me, but the price seems right. I'm weeding through insurance quotes as well, they're all over the board. I'm curious what liability coverage my truck offers regarding a towed trailer, I hate talking to insurance sales people. Larry
