Not short cycling. We weren't sure why it was leaking so we replaced it, after we tried different situations. We come to think Its leaking because it seems like when the hot water tank that's when we notice the water. I replaced the pump with a new 3 weeks ago and it started leaking the same way.

Welcome to the forum

Is the pump leaking, or is it “short cycling”. Short cycling is when the pump runs for a few seconds.

Is the pump leaking water out of just short cycling? Your description is baffling.

When you replaced the pump did you replace the fittings? If it's a FloJet pump, there are O-rings on the fittings that may be the source of your leak. If it's a Shur-Flo pump, did you use teflon tape on the threads on the new pump? If not, they may be the source of your leak.

Unless the water heater and the water pump are co-located in the same area, chances are slim that the leak is associated with whether the water heater is on or off. If they are co-located, then the source may be a fitting on the water heater that is "dripping onto the water pump below it"...

How about a photo of where the "pump is leaking"... It will help to get real answers.

My first thought is to ensure the overpressure relief valve on your water heater is operational.

The simple test would be to turn the water heater on and monitor for a dripping. Then open a hot water faucet. If the water is highly pressurized and boiling hot then you have an issue. If not, then the water heater isn't the issue.

I don't follow the "boiling hot and highly pressurized" criterion. All that is required is that the water pump connection fails at a lower pressure than the WH relief valve.

That's OK, I can't follow a lot of things stated here.

Don't be coy... if my reasoning is wrong, please explain it to me.

I have had a thermostat on my WH stick, it was the 120vaac side. Luckily I heard it make noise (boiling) and shut it off before it did damage. I opened the hot faucet and let the pressure bleed off, steam and high pressure hot water. There wasn't any leaking but if I hadn't of acted I don't know if say a weakened joint would have leaked before the relief valve opened up.

The OP asked if the WH could cause the leak or not. Relating my experience seems logical to me to rule out the water heater. While whatever is leaking ( haven't confirmed its even the pump yet) is obviously leaking at a lower pressure than the WH TPR valve, that information doesn't explain WHY it only happens while the WH is in service as the OP theorizes.

Hope this helps you digest my earlier post.

My reasoning is that he may have a connection at the pump that fails at only marginally more pressure than the pump supplies (which is 50PSI on mine). If the WH raises the pressure to, say, 52 or 53, leak. Your rig may not have had the same weak connector.

I have never seen an RV water pump that was that accurate but I'm not going to argue.

Accuracy isn't a requirement -- all that's required is a connector that begins to fail a few pounds north of whatever the pump delivers at the high end.

Where is it leaking, precisely? Hopefully not at the power connector where you're pointing.

From your photos, it looks like that is simply the end that points down when it is installed, so the drips will appear there regardless. Try taping or tying a piece of tissue paper around the circumference midway to see if the drips are actually originating instead from the end with the fluid tubes, which is much more likely.
