As Steve said, you should be able to fold up the front half of the upper bunk and open the space somewhat. If you're looking to open the space fully, remove the mattress and you will see 6 or 8 each #2 square drive screws along the sides of back part of the upper bunk(actually the front of the trailer) portion of the upper bunk. Remove those screws and the bunk should slide out. The 1" x 3" side supports will be difficult to remove. They are probably glued to the side wall and screwed through the wall studs from the outside of the trailer before the outer skin was installed. If you are intending to reinstall the bunk before selling or trading your trailer, I'd leave those side supports in place. You'll probably do more damage trying to remove them and even if removed, you'll have the staple holes, screw holes and glue damage to contend with.
