I cannot stress enough how nice the turning radius is on a F450. Well worth a few extra bucks.
By the way, you will like any of the big three.
I have a 2020 F-350 and love the newest 10 speed transmission co-developed for Ford and GM trucks. As quoted above, the F-450 has an amazing small turning radius compared to that of all other 3/4 and one ton Ford, GM, Ram products. Eliminates the biggest drawback to operating trucks capable of towing.

We have a 2018 SRW and could not be happier. Power for days pulling an alpine 5ver at about 14500lbs. We get around 10-12 mpg while pulling on the highway, depends on if the wind is blowing. Mountains are no match, we did 2 months in various locations of utah and colorado the last summer and it climbed at the posted speed limit every time although a few times I slowed down due to switchback turns. I have the 8 speed and have heard great things about the 10. I can go up most interstate hills and the trans won’t even shift out of overdrive, just so much torque available. If you get Lariat or Platinum you will have all the modern electronics. One thing I had to get use to was the cooled seats, they are actually independently cooled, not just ventilated like some other brands. You can freeze your nads off if left on too long! But you won’t get a sweaty butt!

You must have a 6 speed transmission since none of the truck makers make an 8 speed transmission for their diesel trucks.

Surprised you’re not way over payload with that rig behind a diesel 3/4 ton.

I’m religious with oil changes (5-6k miles) and fuel filter changes (every 3rd oil change). I also use a fuel additive (your choice on which) at each fill up. They are great motors, and a ‘23 would be two generations updated with more HP and torque. Their Achilles heel is the Bosch CP4 fuel pump. It’s the reason for the fuel filter changes and the fuel additives. You can Google it. With that said,I absolutely love mine and it will give you great performance.

With all that said, and with full disclosure that I like Ford and Ram trucks, make sure to look at the Ram with a Cummins and Chevy/GM with a Duramax. All of the Big 3 make fantastic heavy duty trucks.
I was wary also of the fuel pump and the failures due to water in fuel, to the point that I installed a back up dual filter system years ago. But with 202,000 miles on the odometer, I haven't experienced any problems with anything other than a failed reductant tank heater two or three years ago. So maybe these issues were overblown. Granted the pump was likely the low bid winner for the manufacturer but I think it may be a bum rap. Water in diesel fuel has always been a concern and my secondary filter system has caught a small amount occasionally (I check the bowls every oil change and change all the fuel filters every other oil change) but nothing has gotten past it.

https://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/dsff67/

I don't know if DieselSite has a fuel filter system for the 2017 and up trucks available yet but I'm pleased with mine.

Fuel pump replacement for water damage on these 2011-2016 Superduty's entail all injectors and fuel lines as well as the pump and can cost as much as $12K the last time I checked.

I have the tow package so it's 14,700 on the factory chart. I was fully loaded carrying far more than I now travel with. Just wanted to know the max WT so filled it with every possible thing I may take along. Seems like every trip I decide to leave something else at home. Probably shaved off 800 or more. Still added airbags to take a bit of bump strain off.

The quote above is unclear in several ways. “I have a tow package, so it’s 14,700 on the factory chart” What is 14,700? The trailer’s max weight? The truck’s gross vehicle weight? What does that have to do with your truck having a tow package? What is the factory chart, and where is it found? Have you had the truck and or trailer weighed on a CAT scale? Something seems amiss and it is difficult at best to provide meaningful advice on unclear statements.

The payload sticker in the driver side door frame is what you need to look at. It's a yellow and white sticker that shows the max payload for each individual truck (or car). The 14,700 number is a vague rating for the class of truck and is a great sales tool but very misleading. Take a picture of your payload sticker and post it on here.

Folks who deny payload as the limiting safety factor will often mention "tow rating" from some factory source. The tow rating is based on some specific vehicle that isn't the one that the person actually has and is used for marketing. See the current GMC commercial where they have a one ton single axle pulling a large 5th wheel and claim a maximum towing capacity of 38000 lbs. With any 3/4 ton truck, payload must be thought through carefully as it is usually the limitation of the truck's towing capacity; airbags or not.

Especially prior to model year 2020. It wasn't until then that the manufacturer's started increasing the GVWR to well over 9,900 lbs on 3/4 ton vehicles.

Quite likely that a 2018 diesel F250 has about 2,200-2400 lbs of 'sticker' payload capacity

Sorry to be so vague, but the thread was not about me. Here are my specs for those concerned.

GAWR Front: 5,990 lbs.
GAWR Rear: 6,340 lbs.
Vehicle Curb Weight: 7,264 lbs.
Payload Capacity: 3,480 lbs. My pin weight loaded was 2,540 (yes it's been scaled)
Towing Capacity: 14,700 lbs
(the dealer said it's 15,000 due to the internal 5th wheel hitch system)
Tire Max Load: 3,640 lbs per tire

No complaints about the '17 F350 I had. 6.7 with a 6 speed and 4.10 gearing. Pulled this 371 Fuzion easily. Approx 4K pounds pin weight with the 5500 Cummins/Onan generator in the front of the camper. Gross camper weight was 14.5K pounds.
