Keystone landing gears

Replaced the first one under warranty. Had to replace a second time a little over one and a half year later. Was told by repairman and dealer also that the landing gears had many problems. This gear has a 3 year warranty with 2 separate motors and sturdier legs. After explaining the problems with the two gears, KEYSTONE said too bad, out of warranty. They still use the same old landing gear. You would think that something that important might use a quality part.

well the landing gear on my alpine is touchy. likes to pop the fuse if you stay on the switch too long. They went to hydraulic this year, and I am not surprised. Very marginal design for the bigger coaches.

before we changed landing gear brand, we had an inline breaker installed--no more fuses and a short wait if breaker tripped which it never did. Even the dealer that sold us the unit blew two fuses loading it onto our truck. They said it happens a lot and to carry extra fuses. Bad design by Keystone, but it all goes along with the total poor landing gear that is standard equipment. Why don't they charge a little more for the unit and install a better landing gear. Oh, it must be because they figure in a year that it's not their problem.

I just read another post where someone said that a tech fixed the problem by improving the ground connection. I will try that and see if there is a difference. I emailed my dealer to see if they have any fix as well. I hate to have to replace something like this on a 3 month old coach. I paid for landing gear , I expect it to work.

landing gear problem corrected

i have a 3150 montana 5th wheel that had problems with the landing gears going up with a load on them....

2 months after i got the rig had the motor replaced....then a year out of warranty it happened again...this time i just had 2 venture motors and legs put on the rig.....they work great.

I have asked montana to reimburse me for some of the cost....we'll see. their tech told the dealer that they was NO Problem with the one electric motor...."used on hundreds of models without any problems" yea, except mine.
