Problems with electric front jacks

Hi, new to this so I hope I’m asking in the right area
I have a 2008 keystone challenger, that I bought new, since it was new it has always had the problem of popping fuses when trying to lift , I have grown accustomed to just holding the switch a few seconds, let off and let the motor cool, and repeat the process, in this last year, I have had to replace the switch twice, and my patience has pretty much ran out, wondering if I need to try and find a stronger motor?, or see if there is a different gear ratio I could install, someday I plan to sell and would like to know I would be selling a functioning system

Welcome to the forum

A couple of questions: is it still popping fuses if it’s plugged into shore power, or the TV with the engine running? Have you taken a real good look at all the connections? How old is the battery?

When you say "popping the fuses" are you talking about the 12 vdc circuit breakers near the battery? If they arte original they are ptobably weak and need to be replaced.

Had the trailer plugged into truck, power source, and I also have 2 145 watt solar panels feeding 4 glass mat batteries, the batteries never go down in the summer, as long as there's sun lol, there's a 30 amp 12 volt inline fuse that keeps popping, the trailer I believe is about 2000 ponds at the hitch, so it is a hard lift( even since new) so this had me wondering if it was geared wrong for the weight

That pin weight with the unit loaded will be around 3,000 lbs. Unusual to have a fuse, typically they are 12 vdc circuit breakers that either reset manually or automatically reset. They look like a Lego block.

Had the same problem on a copper canyon. Turned out the jacks where over extended at one point and the threads where stretched. They still worked but where slow and kept popping the fuse. I replaced the Jacks and no more problem.

No breakers on this trailer, just a inline 30 amp fuse , I remember someone mentioning that back when trailer was new , they had one and it had breakers

Welcome Norm0564, from your S. Alberta neighbours. I was gonna mention the breakers but you don't have them. That was the issue on my brothers 2010 Cougar changed the breakers and no problems.

I have the same problem on my new to me 2010 Copper Canyon 292 FWBHS. Keeps blowing 30amp fuses. The motor really strains at certain points during the lift and to a certain extent during lowering. Put in a 40amp fuse (I know the numerous potential problems with this) to get it home and work on it and and it can at least get through the straining. Thought maybe it was the single 12v battery that came with the trailer because I never noticed an issue when I picked it up and thought maybe the battery had depleted enough to cause an issue. Put in my dual 6 volts and it's better but the straining is still there. Same issue on shore power. The motor is not getting hot so I think its ok. I greased the landing gear but I'm starting to think I may have one or both legs that are just ever so slightly bent. I bought a 30 amp circuit breaker since trying the things above so will put that back in and see how it goes. If no luck then I will consider replacing one leg at a time.
