Lippert Titan 6 Point Leveling System

I have the Lippert Titan 6 Point Leveling System on my rig. Has anybody had the the following problem with their system or any problem. This last weekend as I was standing in front of the keypad I literally saw many of the "buttons" on the LCD screen highlight as if I was pressing them, but they were highlighting as if being pressed on their own. It happened multiple times in fast succession. In no particular order (and not necessarily the order I saw them being "pressed") extend, extend, retract, extend, extend, retract... . It was crazy. I had to quicky pull the key pad connector off the leveling controller to stop the madness. The worst part was as I was unhooking from the truck the camper nearly dropped on the bed sides of my truck. Evidentially after I got the weight of the camper off the hitch, the keypad decided to retract the jacks as I was moving to the truck to pull out from under the camper. As I pulled forward the camper slid off the hitch and dropped about 2 inches. I was fortunate there was no damage to my truck and no apparent damage to the camper. I was never able to level the camper. I spent an hour on the phone with Lippert troubleshooting. Lippert suspects something went bad with the keypad. Although I could have manually leveled the camper with a drill, I chose not too, I decided to hook up and take the camper directly to the dealer. It was a chore getting the camper back on the truck. I had help from my buddy who pulled the connector once I got the camper at the proper height to hook up. Then backed under and hooked the connector back up and used the keypad, keeping my finger on retract all so no jacks would extend, to lower the camper on the hitch an retract all the jacks. Then my buddy pulled the connector again to prevent any jacks from extending as we went down the road. When we got to the dealer the Service Manager was floored as he watched the keypad go crazy when we reconnected the keypad. Jacks going up and down over and over on their own. Overall, I like this new system. It's has a very intuitive menu system. But sometimes all this new technology causes big time problems when it malfunctions like it did for me. Just wanted to post something so others with this new Lippert Titan 6 Point Leveling System knew about my problem and they could watch for crazy stuff.

Sad to see issues with the new Lippert Titan system…

This link is one you should become familiar with and I would download all the files so that you have them readily available

https://support.lci1.com/lippert-tow...eveling-system

** I’d also suggest downloading thr Lippert App .. lots of good info that covers many of your Alpine systems such as:

Girard GSWH-2 on demand WH
Lippert thru the frame hydraulic slides
.. and many more

Thanks Chuck. When I bought the camper I took some time to download all the manuals and the aps.

I appreciate any and all tips.

Cheers!

The new system is pretty much the same as the original 6 point hyd system just with a fancied up control and app.. It should be a very good reliable system once you get the keypad replaced...

BE sure to follow up with the resolution to your issue with the Titan system..

The one thing I would have tried if you didnt was remove 12 vdc power to the front forward controller and then remove the touchpad connector plug at the fwd controller and reseat it as well as at the control panel itself.

The new Titan system also has two CAN connection points and I am not certain if the In Command BCM is interfaced to these CAN connections or of they are for other installation setups..

I’ll definitely post a follow-up so everyone will know what the fix was who is following this thread.
I didn’t try to pull the power but I did pull the keypad connector multiple times. I’ve taken a look at the wiring diagram and I see which connector the power runs through. I’ve spoken with the service manager several times about this problem. The next morning, they started looking at the problem. My key pad was not malfunctioning. He took a keypad off another camper and everything worked correctly. They put my keypad back on and it was working correctly. He told me they ordered a new keypad as they didn’t want to take any chances since it malfunctioned during the walk-around when we bought it. Then had zero problems for the last 2 months until last Friday. It should be here today. It all makes me wonder if heat or cold is affecting the key pad. I know cold will affect a circuit board with poor solder joints. The keypad was directly in the sun and it was pretty warm as I was trying to set up the other day.

They say the new titan system is much lighter…i wonder if the weight saving was a cost saving measure… I’m really wishing i would have chosen a rig without any touchscreens at all (incommand )…now it looks like any big rv with hyd leveling will have to use the touch screen…at least the 3.0 system i have has tactile buttons that scroll thru a menu…feel like it’s more robust.

none of this is cutting edge electronics…it’s like the furrian tvs …all built with lowest cost and minimal quality as its cornerstones

Wow.. yeah .. thanks for sharing. We have a 2024 Alpine, have used this system multiple times this winter in cold Ohio temps all without problems so far. We've been out 3 times, levelled probebly 9, 10 times. All fairly cold, no issues. My biggest gripe is the flimsy plastic housing and not being able to see it well in full sunlight.

Just got my camper back Friday. So far I've encountered no problems. But I've only hooked up to my truck, unhooked, and auto leveled. All with zero problems. One thing I have noticed in the new keypad is it looks different. It's hard to describe, but the old one looked like the plastic over the LCD buttons was indented. Presumably because someone was pressing way to hard on the screen. The new one is free of anything that looks like a cosmetic defect. And it only takes the slightest light touch of the screen over the LCD button to activate the desired function.

We're heading out camping again in a few days and I plan to be prepared. I'll be manning the keypad to ensure no funny business happens while my bother in law or my wife pulls the truck out from under the camper.

On a related note, I ran across the contact info of the guy for the new leveling system who is the product manager on a YouTube site. He had commented on a video. So I took the liberty to reach out to him, tell him about the problems I was having, and he responded. So Far I'm the only person they know about that had this problem. But the system is relatively new. He's anxious to get the unit back to look into the problem.

I also complained about the screen brightness to which he responded they were working on an update in a future Over The Air Software update.

Be safe out there!!

I’d also make certain you carry a cordless drill, 1/4 Allen to fit the end of the pump motor to drive with the drill and an Allen wrench to operate the manual override screws on each Hydac cartridge valve in case of a failure ..

The system should be pretty reliable.. Lippert should be adding further technical support PDFs to what they have available now for the consumer .

Yes sir, I've got a cordless that always goes with us.

I have the Lippert 6 point (electric) system on my fifth wheel. About a year ago I started having problems and the system was throwing all sorts of errors. Things were not working right, and I was frustrated. But I was able to eventually get level and thought, OK, it's just me.... old age you know!

Well, when we arrived in Louisiana on December 31, it took me about 2 hours just to get some what level. I never did get the middle jacks to extend.

About 3 weeks ago I decided I needed to try the auto level again, and figure out what's been going on with my system, (that I know for sure of, since July 2023).

And I could not figure it out. Well, I was stumped.... really, really, stumped! My wife found a RV mobile tech out of Baton Rouge and he did come out. After fiddling for several hours (I'm not kidding), he finally determined the front drivers side landing jack was actually broken. He ordered a new one, came out a second time, installed it and now everything is working perfect (as designed) again!

What I'm saying is, taking back to the dealership / repair was the best thing you could have done. Let them figure it out!

But, as frustrating as mine was, yours is definitely more mysterious! I'm glad you did not wait several months before jumping into action! (But really.... it sounds like you have a troublesome poltergeist (ghost) causing trouble for you!

Copy that and I agree. Taking it right away was my best bet.

I'll post a follow-up after our trip we are about to take and let everyone know if I encountered any issues.
