Thumbs down Buyers Beware

I purchased a 32 foot Copper Canyon 18 months ago from Lazy Days in Florida. I just took my first cross country from New York to Washington State with three grand kids. A trip my deceased husband and I had planned on making. Some where in Wyoming on the 7th, 3/4 of the rubber roofing blew off exposing the plywood. I had to go to Gull RV in Missoula Montana where my RV still sits. I made dozens of phone calls starting on the 7th to Lazy Days and Keystone and just kept getting the run around. Keystone just approved the roof replacement on the 14th and Gull cannot tell me when the roof will be completed. My issue is that without my RV, it's looking like I will have to find lodging for four and places to eat for two weeks and have the extra expenses of lodging and food as we travel and Keystone will not tell me if any of the expenses I am incurring are covered. I returned to Gull to get some additional items several days after I dropped it off and they did not keep my RV plugged in like they said, caussing all of my food in the freezer and refrig to spoil. Not a nice mess for me to have to clean up. Does Keystone not have a policy on how this works yet or are they just interested in getting our money at the sales centers and then forgetting about their customers? A bad product and bad customer service. Unbeleivable!

1. Welcome to the forum and sorry for the loss of your deceased husband and your current problems.
2. Most likely, nobody here can help you except to offer suggestions.
3. You're fortunate Keystone is offering to help because your RV purchased 18 months ago is out of warranty. Even in warranty, most of us wait weeks, even months for issue resolution on problems of that magnitude. You're fortunate that Keystone approved your work in such a short time.
4. Check your RV insurance policy. It may have some provisions to help pay out of pocket or trip expenses in your situation.

A few questions? If your roof blew off in Wyoming, how did you wind up several hundred miles away in Missoula, MT before you stopped?

Did the extra travel cause additional damage to the roof?

If you turned it in on August 7th for repair and they didn't plug it in, where have you and the grandchildren been staying since then?

A suggestion, not knowing the ages of your grandchildren, but being somewhat familiar with the length of time to repair RV structural problems, you may consider starting to plan on how to get the grandchildren home before school starts. Most likely, re-roofing an RV will take significantly longer than you apparently expect. It's definitely not an overnight repair as you've already learned.

Again, sorry for your situation, but planning to get the kids home without the RV in tow may be next on your agenda.

HELLO I am very sorry for the loss of your husband. That nust have been a sight going down the road First off, no one was hurt. The trailer is out of warranty and it is good that keystone is getting involved. As for the other expenses you should look into your insurance policy. some of the better ones have trip interuption which will cover some or all of your expences.it clearly states in the keystone warranty that it will not pay for that. that repair will not be a quick one. and the dealer most likly has other repairs ahead of you. i do wish you the best and that it all comes together and you can get on with your trip. i will say a pryer for you and your family.
