Tire Blowout Where to Buy fender skirt
I have a Keystone alpine 3555RL and I had a tire blowout this past weekend on our way home, the trailer is about 11 months old and the tires had about 1500 miles on them. When it blew it tore up the fender skirt and the aluminum side near the tire. I went to my Keystone dealer in League City TX and they told me that the 12' section of J aluminum strip which i only need 3' of would cost $100 just to ship it and the fender skirt would cost $40 to ship, that does not include the cost of the components. I find that unreasonable and want to find another place to purchase these items. Can anyone recommend a place. I will attach photos.

If you Google RV Salvage you should find websites that specialize in these parts. The skirts should be easy to find ... the aluminum you may have better luck having made locally. JM2˘, Hank

My good friend has a RV dealership specialising in coaches he told me about a blowout in a coach that cost the owners insurance $20,000 that was when I purchased a tire monitoring system. I makes no difference how experienced you are you have no advanced warning that a tire is going flat and overheating to the point of a blowout. I am not a salesman for Tire minder lol

Anyway at 11 months old that would be a warranty issue?

Even on a passenger vehicle, tires are not covered by the vehicle warranty. The tire manufacturer warranties the tires and if the tire is a total loss they usually say that it was your fault and even if they replace the tire the warranty reads they are not liable for subsequent damages.

what about your insurance? it would not cover the tire, unless you hit something, that caused the blow out. the you cop/collision should cover it.

Not sure about the aluminum, but the plastic fender skirt is fairly reasonable at Tiara RV sales(tiararvsales.com). I replaced mine after a blowout. $55 and $35 shipping. Arrived 4 days after I ordered it. Exact replacement and color was dead-on.

For the plastic, there's also http://www.icondirect.com/ They had a single replacement fender for my Cougar TT for less than half what the local dealer wanted, including shipping. I've also purchased their Aero Shield and have been happy with that.

If by chance (really big chance) that it's a Goodyear Marathon you should be able to submit a claim for damage to Goodyear. They have been pretty good paying for damage by the self exploding Marathon tires.

If you are not in a big hurry for the replacement plastic parts, talk to your nearest Keystone dealer about having the parts "shipped" directly from Keystone---inside the next RV headed to the dealer's lot. Often this can be done for free. Depends on the dealer though.

Another source for RV fender skirts: www.pellandent.com
(All three of the sources mentioned in this thread are now listed in the master source list I am building. Thanks!)

I had a blowout on my 2011 Avalanche about 3 weeks ago. Body shop estimated $2200 to fix it. Progressive came to house and wrote their own estimate and was really close to the body shop estimate. They wrote me a check for almost $1,900. They reduced it by the deductible.
I got to looking at the Avalanche, and I realized this was going to be not much more than taking a few parts off and replacing them. I will have to cut the J-Wrap to length and cut out the fender wells. I also have to replace the vertical slide out trim. Loose tire flapped it and twisted it.
The parts were $191 and shipping is going to be $125.
I think I still came out alright. LOL!
By the way, I have a TPMS and it did not give me any warning. The tire blew and then the monitor went off.

not to turn this into a tire thread- but what replacement tires are you getting- seems like the insurance money would buy you a complete set.
