LED Replacement for halogens?

I would so love to replace the 3 HOT halogens in the MBR of my Alpine.

They are the G6.5 2 pin base bulbs.

Anyone know of a direct replacement?

Thanks!

I think you mean G6.35 bulbs.

I believe that some of the G4's can be used in place of the G3.5's. Probably pin length and fixture shape are the only issues, and pins can always be cut to length.

Searching Ebay for G5 LED I got over 4,000 hits. I prefer US sellers only, and still got nearly 500 hits.

I am quite certain you can find something that will do the trick there.

Yes... G6.35. The pin spread is wider than the G4.

What I am looking for is someone that has already replaced the bulbs. I've done enough searching on ebay Google catalogs, etc. to get confused enough to be totally unconvinced I can find the right one myself.

l bought a G4 halogen to play with. Pin spreading is one thing I want to try tomorrow.

Now, how do you figure out how many lumens a bulb gives off to try to replace it with a led that is reasonably close?

In an earlier thread, several folks reported that they were not happy with the output of anything less than roughly 225 to 250 lumens when replacing a single 921 in a standard RV type fixture.

Good news, both the G4 and G6.35 fit in the sockets I have without spreading the pins!

So, now its on with the G4 search!

The current issue of RV life did an article on this you should pick it up. They show side by side photos of the bulbs and stated that some LED replacement bulbs are not very bright.
