Fiberglass front end

I have a Zepplin 271. It has a large fiberglass fitting that covers the LP tanks and battery tray. It has to be partially removed to check the LP tanks or throw the knife switch on the battery bank. Any one have any advise before I cut an access port. My main concern how to cut and drill the fiberglass without causing chipping to the smooth side.

You might try putting tape - painter's tape - over the line that you want to cut. You will also need to redraw the line again over the tape. This might help any chipping or tearing on the smooth side. Drilling should not be a problem. It is the cutting that you should take precautions. You didn't mention what you would be using to do the cutting. I am assuming that you are talking about a saber saw or something similar to that??

Definitely tape it and look for a laminate blade for you saw. They cut on the down stroke and usually leave any chips on the bottom side only.

on cutting the plastic/fibreglass hole

I have use a small propane torch to soften enough to stick thru a screwdriver and enlarge the hole so i can cut from there. Do not overheat the cover as it will change the surface.
