Congrats!! I have this same truck. Doesn't this 5th wheel exceed the maximum payload rating for our truck, even without people and gear?

I have not gotten a reply from the OP on this, but I am wrong in my assumption? These trucks have a great towing capacity (17k) but the maximum payload is only like 2200-2300. Most larger 5th wheels payload weights are in the 2200 to 2500 range. This is without passengers and gear. Please correct any misconception on my part. Thanks in advance.

Your concerns are valid. The 2014 Avalanche 295RL has a shipping pin weight of 2410 pounds. By the time you add propane and two batteries (175 +/- lbs) you're above 2550. Add a washer/dryer and average personal belongings and you'll very likely have a pin weight ranging from 3000-3500 pounds. There are a couple of threads addressing this with other Keystone RV's and different tow vehicles. One is a F350 SRW and a Montana High Country (lite model). Other threads address the RAM MegaCab and fifth wheel trailers.
