Counter top extension modification

I added a counter top extension to my 2010 Keystone Hideout and thought I'd share how I did it.

I got the shelf through my dealer. It's from a shelf in another higher end Keystone model that is also used as a counter extension. When I bought the travel trailer this was part of the deal I made so I don't know what the cost would be.

Since the paneling is just 1/4" thick a frame work is needed to make it solid enough.


This picture shows two 1x4 boards that I screwed to the frame work.



This picture shows a couple boards I stuck in between the first boards in the area the brackets will be. These happen to be 3/4" plywood just because I had a couple scrap pieces that happened to be the size I needed.

Nice Mod. ..... Mine came with an extension, but it was removable with a leg that was a real toe breaker. I used similar braces and had the wood where I needed it already. Now I don't have to store it and my toes thank me every time I walk by. The extra space comes in handy and you will use it if you don't have to hunt for where you stored it.

even tho one shown, the brackets are black and the other white, I bought one from a RV dealer and installed in my Cougar. it is brass colored. I do beleive tho that the brackets needed for this IS NOT avail. from any hardware dealer and that they are only common to the RV world. as I shopped extensivly and Rockler or no one could come up with such a thing. the one I found/bought was $30.
