Fridge Drain Line

My fridge drain line broke and cracked and needed to be replaced. I found several threads saying you have to remove the fridge to get to the drain line or pull the cup inside the fridge out. Pulling the cup could break it or cause other damage to the fridge so for me both of these options were out.

I found a very simple solution on another site and thought I would share it here to help others out because this is a problem we all have.

Here's some pics to explain. Outside panel where the hose is located.

Now heres the trick that makes this easy. If you look up in the comparment you will see a board that covers the top. Its only held in by two srcews.



Remove the screws and take down the board. Now you have access to the back of the fridge and hose connection.

Others have said their hose was secured by a wire clamp. Mine was held in place by a loose zip tie.



You have to look up but you can see the connection and the nipple where the new hose will need to be attached.

I did nt have time to get to the store so that will be tomorrow. I plan on getting a hose slightly bigger and use a hose clamp the keep it in place.


I'll try to post a pic of the finished repair. Hope this helped someone.

Halfprice, Howdy;

That's some kind of fragil tubing ... my thoughts run tword some of the heatshrink (teflon), tubing to slide over the original then route ti out the inlet vent for the rfidg. Only a suggestion, your mileage may vary.

The original tubing is junk. I'm not sure what I'm going to get yet. I'll see what Home Depot has in the proper size but it definately won't be what I just took off. I've seen some people use garden hose but thats pretty thick and hard to bend in the small compartment.

I'll post the new hose and final pics tomorrow.
